Drupalling the Night Away

It’s taken me quite a while, but little by little I’m getting the hang of Drupal and adapting it to what I want it to do (with a whole dollop of help from Saint Google). At first part of the problem was that it looked horrendously daunting when trying to get my head around adapting a pre-made theme (Garland) to do what I wanted it to. So, step back and go back to Zen was the answer. That approach saved me a hell of a lot of time and agro.

I haven’t entirely finished what I set out to do; there’s a lot of ground to be covered, but given time I’ll get there. The plan is to be able to Blog with this thing (like I am now), upload and display photos, music and other random content. Hopefully I’ll get this thing out of the sandpit within the next month.

Another reason that I chose Drupal is that if I decide in the future that I’m not keen on the styling (let’s face it, it isn’t the most exciting design for a webpage, and really I threw it together in one night as a holding page more than anything), it will be a lot less work to re-work things to the new theme than if I were doing this another way.

Or maybe more, I’ll have to find out sometime.
